Immovable Monuments
Immovable Monuments are intended to be as they are titled: to be immovable. They are immovable not because they are heavy or fastened into place; they are immovable because they are cracked and fragile. Typically monuments suggest a permanent ideal to strive for, however, these monuments are meant to be impermanent, symbolizing my own fragile self and mortality. Built to a level at my height (four and a half feet to five and a half feet tall) these monuments are spaced apart from one another so the audience is free to inspect and walk around the work, possibly reflecting upon their own fragility.
