Recently, Kent State University was invited to participate in Grand Valley State University's Ceramics Forum.  I was honored to represent Kent State.  Also in attendance were fellow graduate students from Alfred University, Cranbrook Academy of Art, School of the Art Institute Chicago, and University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Hoon Lee is the Ceramics Program Coordinator and Sean Larson is the Technician.  We were welcomed by the students of Grand Valley State as we looked over and critiqued their work.  I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure the consensus was that all the invited visitors enjoyed what the Grand Valley students were producing.  I am most impressed with the thinking of how their work fits into the conversation of contemporary art and the resolve in finding their voice through the process of ceramics.  The Ceramics Forum at Grand Valley State University is becoming an established Conference connecting students and inspiring the ceramic arts.  I am excited to see who will be in attendance next year!

I think it's that time again, and this will be one of the last times in a long while I'll be having a studio sale in lovely Portland OR.  I'll be moving to Kent, Ohio in August to attend the graduate program at Kent State University.  So please come out for a visit... of course there will be little bites, coffee, tea, and always good vibes.  It's been real Portland!

Zachary Wollert Pottery Studio Sale

I'm proud to have fired with the potters and crew at Careen Stoll's Tinman kiln located in Portland, Oregon.  The conversations among the group has lead to a community site for participants whom have fired the kiln.  The website features Careen's philosophy of sustainability and how that relates to the ceramics world today.  I've learned much from firing with Careen and the ceramists whom work the Tinman as well.  I'd like to introduce the newly published "Tin Man's Hand's" website:

Holiday greetings everyone!  I hope people have had a great fall and are looking forward to winter.  I'll be showing work at the Mud Sweat & Cheer sale, this is a local artist and craftsman sale in Portland Oregon on 922 sw Yamhil.  With around 50 people participating in the show there will be plenty of things to admire: paintings, jewelry, pictures, and tons of ceramic.  Stop by for a look see, I promise no one will be disapointed!
